Nathalie Rivard, a journalist and author, moved to Knowlton last May. In March 2016, Les Éditions de l’Homme published her book “Courir autour du monde: des plus classiques aux plus folles, 200 courses pour vous faire rêver!”– a practical guide aimed at all types of runners, from 5k to marathon runners.
This book is of particular interest this month when so many runners will be in the area during the Tour du Lac Brome on the weekend of June 16-18.
Rivard chose among some of the most mythical, most spectacular, most extreme, most decadent races in the world. You do not have to be a marathon runner to enjoy this book, all runners will find races that will make them want to travel to great destinations around the globe. It is a fun book that could bring you places you did not even think were on your bucket list, even the poles.
You dream of running dressed as a Sumo wrestler or next to gorgeous beaches in Jamaica? What about running on ice, participating in an obstacle race with your friends, running in the famous Mont Blanc trails during UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) or drinking wine during your next marathon? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this book is for you. Le Tour du Lac Brome is even included in it, as it is one of the most important races in the summer circuit in Quebec. It is available in libraries in a numeric format. It is available in French and German and a Taiwanese version is coming out this spring.
