Julienne St-François (nee Dorais) died on February 8, the day after her ninety-third birthday, at the Courville Centre in Waterloo.

She launched her teaching career at the age of 18 in Ste-Anne de la Rochelle, then in Adamsville and Abercorn, where she met her husband, Réginald.

In the early 60s, they built the Horizon hotel in Sutton, and ran it until 1965. They also bought, lived in and operated Lakeview House in Knowlton, from 1965 to 1972. Julienne managed the kitchen and room staff.

Julienne was very active in community affairs. In 1993, along with Yvette Morin and Marie Desmarchais, she founded l’Art Entre-Nous, an open drawing and painting workshop for artists, still in operation. She also worked at the Pettes Memorial Library where she was tasked with French book purchases.

She also participated in the translation of Clairol manuals (today KDC).

She was instrumental in founding the Lac-Brome branch of AFEAS, a social-action women’s group.

For many years, she was a valued Tempo volunteer.

She leaves five sons, Michel (Carole Dame), Bernard (Wanda Pell), Paul (Nathalie Malaison), André (Isabelle Blanchard) postmaster in Knowlton, and Guy, as well as 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous friends.
