Inaugurated on June 5th, the Circuit de l’Abbaye, is a 152 km long walk, or pilgrimage, on rural roads, passing through the towns of Saint-Benoît-du-lac, Austin, Orford County, Eastman, South Stukely, Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton, East Bolton and Township of Potton. The Saint-Benoît-du-Lac Abbey being both point of departure and return, gave its name to the circuit that can be completed in about ten to fifteen days, walking about 18 to 20 km daily, but shorter itineraries are also possible.
“It is an autonomous walking tour. Walkers have to plan their own itinerary and make their reservations using the different tools available. One has to be well organized, but that is part of the experience and it allows for more flexibility, an important element for many walkers,” indicated Marie Beaupré, general manager at Action Memphré-Ouest and the project instigator. Before its launch, they had already received fifty registrations which bodes well for the future.
