Not only is Arts Alive! alive, it is returning to Knowlton for a fourth edition, August 3 to 5.
Details are sketchy as these words are carved on the digital stoneface, but organizer Danny McCauley and team promise a weekend of fun for the entire family. Music, theatre and puppet shows, contemporary dance, literary activities, visual arts, film and the all-important Teddy Bear’s picnic are putatively on the agenda.
The festival is a Canadian government initiative, dedicated to celebrating English-speaking arts communities in six Quebec regions. Arts Alive! Knowlton represents the greater Eastern Townships.” “We weren’t sure we would get funding for the fourth straight year until recently, so the schedule is still being solidified,” said the typically busy McCauley. Things being bandied about include activities on the museum grounds, with family events to ease the strain on parents and guardians with kids under foot during the summer vacation.
He believes the Lyric Singers will hold a Broadway workshop and concert; that Celtic music will find its voice; dance will take centre stage; and there will be things in Theatre Lac Brome.
“We’ve got a great group of people, and we are having a lot of fun putting it together. It’s geared to kids,” McCauley promises, “but there will be something for everyone.”
