Duckfest on hold for 2018

The popular fall Brome Lake Duck festival, which usually takes place at the end of September, will not happen this year. The organizer of the event, Agence Lion from Granby, said it could not live up to its contract with the town and withdrew.

In light of that, and given the short notice, Councillor Lee Patterson told Tempo “we decided to put it on ice for this year.’’

In a press release Mayor Richard Burcombe stated: “This is a very important event for Brome Lake, but the short time before the festivities forces the town to take a step back, to take two steps ahead next year. There is no question of us organizing or supporting a smaller event.’’

Organized for over two decades, the festival has attracted thousands of visitors to the downtown Knowlton area.
