Mayor Richard Burcombe chaired the meeting with five councillors present. About 20 citizens attended.

Administration – Saturday, April 25 will be “municipal paths clean-up day”. Volunteers are welcome and refreshments will be served. More information to come on the town’s website.

The town purchased a 78-foot ladder fire truck which will be available in the next two weeks. Cost: $456,755.

Bell Canada charged the town $120,631 to move wires and some posts for the reconstruction of Victoria Street. This is 73% more than the estimated cost and the town reserves the right to contest this invoice. The town purchased a piece of land on Bondville for $850,000 thanks particularly to a contribution from CARKE Foundation.

Land Use and Environment Management – Council grants permission to build within the 45 metres protected shoreline at 459 Knowlton Rd.

Leisure, Culture and Community Life – Financial contributions: Knowlton Film Festival, $10,000; Knowlton Literary Festival, $8,000; Tour des Arts, $4,000; Pettes Memorial Library, $132,600; Medical clinic, $10,000; Brome Lake Firemen’s Association, $1,200.

Public domain use – «Santé mentale L’Éveil de Brome-Missisquoi» has permission to be at the corner of Lakeside and Knowlton Rds on March 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Varia – TBL joins other municipalities in opposing Bill 48 limit- ing property taxes on agricultural properties because it would have a negative impact on the town’s finances.

Questions – Asked about the status of new doctors at the medical clinic, the mayor said that the two doctors recruited in December decided to go work elsewhere; the Clinic will now have to wait for the government MD’s distribution program in 2020. However, Dr. Gordon Roper joined the clinic on a permanent basis.
