The mayor and full council were present at the meeting that was held on Zoom on June 1. Check the town website for a video copy. Mayor Drolet opened the meeting by reminding all West Bolton residents to observe the health rules – frequent hand washing and maintenance of a 2m space between people when out in public. Some residents continue to mix garbage, recycling and composting materials in their bins. This is costing the municipality and the taxpayers a lot of money. Questions – The paths leading up to the Tower on Mt. Foster are closed. The ACA have not yet completed the inspection of existing paths and choice of paths to open for public access to the tower. The tower itself must be inspected and approved by an engineer before the public will be allowed to climb the tower. COVID-19 delays work.

Local SAAQ offices – Waterloo closed, Cowansville open by appointment only. Granby and Sherbrooke – open.

Renewal of municipal insurance –The insurance policy, covering the municipality, was renewed at 3% higher than last year.

Roads – Work on Foster Road started about 2 weeks ago. The culverts have been replaced, work on the sub-grade will continue for the next week with paving to follow. An interim payment of $124,000 was approved. Placing of stones in the creek at the intersection of Brill and Argyll to control erosion was completed at a cost of $2000 + tax.

Environment – Councillor Vaillancourt reported on the IDEC water testing results for the past year. The report will be filed on the municipal website. Results continue to show good water quality in the municipality. Particular attention was drawn to the continued improvement of the water quality of Quilliams Creek.
