Chock full of flavours

There are many good restaurants in town and Knowltonites are quite addicted to them. The Star Café, lodged in a lovely restored old stone mill offers burgers and meats smoked on the premises. This popular spot has a two-storey dining room and, during the summer, offers a large terrace directly on Coldbrook stream.

Set in an old victorian house, the Café Floral is another Knowlton classic. Tasty homemade dishes and decadent desserts are offered. On a nice day, you can eat outside.

At Buzz, you can either have a sit-down meal in a comfy setting or order interesting food to take out. At the corner of Knowlton and Lakeside Roads, smack in the centre of town, there is the large dining room at Le Relais which is open for lunch and dinner with its daily specials. There is also a large terrasce at the back. Not far from there, on the other side of Knowlton Road, behind the theatre hides the Bistro Knowlton Pub. Menu and lively atmosphere of a typical Irish pub.

Getting out of the village along the 104, you will find the new micro brewery La Knowlton Co. It has many original beers brewed on the premises. The menu has changed somewhat because of the unusual present circumstances, but a food truck will provide hearty food for lunch and dinner on week-ends.

If you feel like exploring a little more, there is Scotyz and Le Restaurant des Érables in Foster. Don’t miss the charming family run Indian restaurant Chez Moi Chez Toi (only take-out for now) located at the intersection of highway 215 and Bondville Road.

Many hotels and country auberges also feature pleasant restau- rants. It the case at the Auberge West Brome in the lovely hamlet of the same name. It is open every day. La Brise du Lac offers an elegant menu as well as an impressive view of the lake at Hôtel et Suites Lac-Brome. There is also le Mistral at the Domaine Jolivent in Foster.
