In order to continue its mission to help battle cancer, the Yamaska Valley Optimist Club is organizing its 20th edition of the Cancer Walk. Like last year, participants are asked to walk, run or bike at their convenience, between October 3 and November 3. Exercise is an important step in preventing cancer and this event is one that the whole family, including dogs, can participate in.
One hundred percent of the profits raised will be donated to the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital Foundation and will be used to finance specialized medical equipment for the treatment of cancer patients. You can register for the walk at: http://www.yvoc.ca, download and print pledge forms as well as create your own fundraising campaign. Forms are also available at: Le Panier Champêtre and Royal Lepage in Knowlton; Nettoyeur Houle and Pharmacie Jean Coutu in Cowansville; and Bromont Medical Clinic. A $25 minimum is required to register and all donations by cash or cheque can be made at the above locations or at: http://www.fondationbmp.ca
Honorary co-chairs are Dr. Christine Cadrin, gynecologist at the BMP Hospital and two cancer fighters: Ms. Ursula Kofahl Lampron and Peter M. Treacy. Sponsors of the event are: Pharmacie Jean Coutu Julie Coderre and the National Bank Financial McGale- Charpentier-Côté team.
