After 11 years at the helm of her store specializing in gourmet Italian and prêt-à-manger products, Domenica Didio is passing the torch to Émilie Rizzetto, a French-Italian chef who has been living in Québec for the last 14 years. The shop was founded by Domenica and her husband. It was a dream of his that she continued in the years after he passed away.
She put all of her love and passion for traditional Italian cuisine into it. Over the years, Domenica’s boutique became an essential stop for lovers of traditional, high-quality Italian products. It is with some sadness, but also joy at having more free time, that Domenica will be taking a well-earned break. After a few months of vacation, she will be back to give cooking classes at her home and to work on a book of Italian cooking, a project close to her heart.
Who is Émilie Rizzetto? Originally from Bordeaux, you may know her from the 2012 season of the show Les Chefs, in which she was a semi-finalist. She also worked at the restaurant Laurie Raphaël, as well as at l’Auberge St-Gabriel. More recently, we saw her in the show 5 chefs dans ma cuisine with Marina Orsini. She is looking forward to reconnecting with her Italian roots.
New to the area, she is also the mother of a 5-month-old boy. And so it will be a double challenge for her to balance her new business with her new role as a mother. Émilie will be keeping the Italian products and recipes so beloved of Domenica’s clients, but will bring her own personal touch by adding new dishes. Domenica’s clientele is in good hands. We wish both of them a lot of happiness in their new lives.
