New Francophone Literary Festival coming to Brome Lake

Lorraine Briscoe

The Francophone Literary Festival in Brome Lake was officially announced by the Town of Brome Lake via press conference at the Theatre Lac Brome on April 14th. The first festival will take place from May 19 to 23, 2022, the long weekend. The idea for a francophone festival was conceived by town councillor Ms. Louise Morin, and its realization is the result of collaboration with the Town, Theatre Lac-Brome and the Festival International de la Littérature. Among other things, the programming will offer an award-winning film adaption of Honoré de Balzac’s Illusions Perdues with Xavier Dolan and two literary shows: Lettres biologiques, amours interdites adapted from correspondence between Brother Marie-Victorin and his colleague; and Baldwin, Styron et moi, by Melikah Abdelmoumen about cultural appropriation. Tickets are on sale now at theatrelacbrome.ca. For further information: festival-fil.qc.ca
