Don Joyce, Renaissance Lac Brome
Join Renaissance Brome Lake’s president and directors on Saturday, September 3, to paddle the shores of Brome Lake. If you love to canoe, kayak or paddleboard, this event is for you. The first of its kind, Paddle Brome Lake 2021, attracted 35 paddlers as it made its way around the lake. Some paddlers completed the whole circuit, and some joined the group for only a short segment; everyone enjoyed paddling with friends. Last year’s participants enjoyed the day so much that we are pleased to organize our second and hopefully annual event, Paddle Brome Lake 2022. Beginning at Douglass Beach at 7 a.m., the complete circuit is 19 kilometres. The group will stay 10-20 metres from shore as we make our way. Paddlers can start at Douglass Beach or join anywhere around the lake. There was a special feeling when the group met up and paddled together. To make sure that happens this year, we have rallying points around the lake where we will regroup before proceeding together.

Pack water, snacks, sun protection, and a picnic to have when we reach Douglass Beach. If necessary, the event will follow any recommended COVID precautions in place at the time. From Douglass Beach, Renaissance Brome Lake (RBL) will transport RBL members who register in advance and their water-craft back to their point of origin on the lake. Your safety is your responsibility. Wear a life jacket whenever you are on the water. Also, review the Transport Canada human-powered craft safety guidelines: https://tc.canada.ca/en/marine-transportation/getting-started-safe-boating/operating-human-powered-craft.
For planning and logistics, please confirm your participation at https://renaissancelbl.com. We will send a confirmation update to all registered participants on the morning of the event. If the weather does not cooperate, we will postpone the paddle to Sunday, September 4.
