The development of CARKE Terrace, a new municipal waterfront park, is officially underway.
Located on Bondville Rd, on a 13-acre site donated to the town by the CARKE Foundation with the generous support of the Poulin family, CARKE Terrace will provide local residents and visitors with another place to access and enjoy Brome Lake.
A portion of the site is directly on the waterfront, while the balance of the land is on the other side of the road and stretches deep into the beautiful terraced forest overlooking the lake.
Effective immediately, the public is invited to access the lake frontage portion for swimming, relaxing, and launching non-motorized watercraft such as paddle boards and canoes.
There is currently no parking or washroom facility. However, work will start this fall and by next summer the town will have completed the first phase of the project, which includes the installation of a crosswalk and stop signs, limited parking, and a small building with washrooms. Plans for the rest of the park continue to evolve, but CARKE Terrace is off to a terrific start.
