Is it safe to shop online? Yes and No.

Some examples of safe, reputable stores: Amazon, Apple, Costco, and LLBean. Don’t buy from a poorly designed website with extremely low prices – if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

If there is no physical address or phone number on the site, it might be a fake. Look for the little padlock beside the website address that should start with https:// (the ‘s’ in https stands for secure).

Never give out your SIN number or birthdate. Check that the return and shipping policies are clear. Be diligent: check your debit or credit card balance often on your bank’s site to catch any unauthorized charges.
