BCHS awarded important grant

The Brome County Historical Society (BCHS) has recently been awarded, over a three-year period, a grant in the amount of $472,320 from the PAFIM (Programme Aide au fonctionnement pour les institutions muséales). The PAFIM is an operating assistance program that will enable Quebec museums to pursue their mission in the conservation and dissemination of heritage. Denis Piquette, Executive Director of the BCHS gives credit to the volunteers, scheduled by Gillian Eastley who helped keep the Museum open on weekends in 2018 and 2019. This enabled the accreditation by the government in 2019 and hence the ability to apply for, and receive grants. Applying for grants is a long and painstaking process and staff and board members have devoted much time to this endeavour. These cumulative efforts over the last few years have been instrumental in elevating the profile of the museum and archives. It is now recognized as a cultural and historical gem worthy of government investment.
