Claire Kerrigan founded this newspaper with a like-minded group of idealists who believed passionately in this community.

She was particularly proud that it remained a bilingual publication. Claire campaigned behind the scenes for causes in which she believed, from conservation efforts for Brome Lake, the Community Centre, the Linear Path and the preservation of the Paul Holland Knowlton House. She was a campaigner for the climate and wrote her last editorial on the subject, published in the spring of this year.

Claire was a modest woman and did not take credit for her many achievements in this town.  As mentioned in her obituary, she was also one of the founders of CARKE One of her close friends talks about that charitable institution.
