Local children learn to sail

Local children from the Town of Brome Lake’s Salamander Day Camp were offered one week, all expenses paid, at Sailing Camp at the Brome Lake Boat Club.

Six children took advantage of the program the week of July 24th and had a great time learning to sail.  This happened under the Mes Premiers Jeux program that the government created to connect young people aged 6 to 12 with sports clubs in their region to introduce them to the pleasures of sport.

While the government provided 1/3 of the funds the local community came together and offered their support. In addition to the Quebec government program, the Town of Brome Lake, the Optimist Club of the Yamaska Valley, the Optimist Club of Lac-Brome and the Brome Lake Boating Club also contributed to cover the costs.
