In person Cancer walk returns

Susan Jacques, LJI

The long-awaited “in person” Walk to Fight all Cancers is returning on Sunday, October 1st at 9.30 a.m. at Centre Lac Brome, 270 Victoria, Knowlton. You have the option to walk 5 or 10 kms and are welcome to bring dogs, children or family members. If you prefer to participate in the walk but at a different time, donations will be accepted until Christmas. A great alternative this year is an adapted yoga class offered by Laura Hernandez. A rest tent will also be set up.

You may register online at www.yvoc.ca or paper forms are available in Knowlton at Le Panier Champêtre or Royal Lepage. A minimum pledge of $25.00 is required and cheques should be made payable to the BMP Foundation. On-site registration runs from 8.00 a.m. – 9.15 a.m.

This Walk is once again organized by the Yamaska Valley Optimist Club in conjunction with the BMP Hospital and the sponsors are Pharmacie Jean Coutu Julie Coderre and Team McGale-Charpentier-Côté from National Bank Financial. Honorary presidents are Dr. Christine Cadrin, gynaecologist and Jaime Moar, survivor. Co-chairs are Johanne Coiteux and Louise Gélinas (450-521-9478). Further information is available on the website: www.yvoc.ca

This year, the funds raised during the walk will be used to purchase two colonoscopy machines worth $92,800. These machines will be part of a major project to renew the Outpatient Surgical Clinic’s endoscopic equipment.
