Thursday, February 27 will be her last day, after 29 years, behind the counter at the Knowlton Post Office. Lea Ann Whitehead, the Knowlton Post Master will be retiring. “I spent my whole career in Knowlton, first on a part-time basis, then full-time as of 2000 and then Post Master since 2018”, said Whitehead in an interview with Tempo.

“What I will miss the most is the people, the customers, my co-workers.’’ Through the years she experienced a lot of changes on the job. “It’s mostly the technology that has changed. When I first started at the Post Office there were no computers. Now there are technological changes happening almost every day.’’

What will retirement bring? “After a diagnosis of breast cancer five years ago, I am happy to have my health back and I want to take advantage of that. I want to spend time with my husband and there will surely be visits to the children, a daughter in Toronto and a son in Halifax.’’

Lea Ann intends to devote more time to volunteer work, especially the Cancer Walk, an event that is very meaningful to her.

We wish Lea Ann a happy retirement… but we will miss her cheerful presence at the Post Office.
