Word has just been received that Heritage Canada will help with the funding of a third Arts Alive in Knowlton. The first showing of “United We Stand!”, a fun new musical by Roger de la Mare, will take place July 1, Canada Day at 11 a.m. on the museum grounds among many other exciting events planned for Canada Day celebrations. This short play was written especially for the occasion of Canada’s 150th celebration and sheds some light into what the zany characters we call the Fathers of Confederation had in mind when they were fighting so hard to unite this vast land of ours. Starring some favourite Knowlton Players actors, it is historically hilarious!

There will also be a couple of tents at Lions Park and workshops from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. as part of the Canada Day festivities. These should include: drumming, visual arts and line dancing and there will be concerts and other workshops during the week. Included in the line-up will be a film workshop, flower arranging and kite-making and, as the date approaches, more participants are expected to confirm their presence.
