Elder Friendly emergency at BMP

Press Release

A new Elder Friendly certification was granted to the Brome-Missisquoi Perkins Hospital emergency. It is the second Quebec hospital, after the Hôtel-Dieu in Sherbrooke, to receive such a mention.

“The bronze Elder Friendly certification from the American College of Emergency Physicians assures us that seniors, from the moment they enter the emergency room until they return home, will receive services tailored to their needs by professionals trained about their condition’’, said emergency specialist Dr. Michèle Lucey.

It is important to note that seniors make up 33% of emergency room cases at BMP, this proportion will increase with our ageing population.

The BMP Foundation invested $400,000 in this project thanks to a major donation.
