Early estimates suggest attendance was more than 42,000 for this weekend. Great weather and the pent up demand after COVID helped, but so did the work of enthusiastic volunteers.

There was a record number of exhibitors in the handicraft area and all the animal barns were full. Unnoticed by the crowds, the volunteers ran not only all the ongoing maintenance issues, but also the water refill station and waste sorting. Much less waste was sent to the landfill this year.

Anecdotally, as predicted by the director before the fair, much of the evening crowd was made up of our local teenage population, the fair being THE attraction for this age group.

The 167th edition of Brome Fair is over but the history of the fair continues.

If you have some memorabilia of the fair from years past, the Brome County Agricultural Society may want to add them to its collection. All you have to do is get in touch with the organizers at 450-242-3976.
