It’s official: as of June 2025, Barnes Home Hardware is entering a new chapter. After 17 years at the helm, Kevin Barnes and Chantale Lajoie are passing the torch—and the keys—to the next generation.
Originally a general store on Victoria Street, the business was known for its personalized service and deep local roots. Since moving to Knowlton Road in 2017, the focus has shifted to hardware, but that same friendly, small-town service remains the heart of the operation.
Now, Kevin and Chantale are selling the store to their son-in-law, Maxime Laplante, who has worked at the store for the past three years. A meticulous and thoughtful administrator, Maxime is well-prepared to continue—and build on—the Barnes legacy.
A Celebration Weekend: June 6–8
To mark the transition, Maxime is organizing a special weekend celebration from June 6 to 8. On the agenda:
- Gifts and giveaways
- Delicious food
- A fundraiser for the Optimist Club
- Sales reps on-site from leading suppliers
It’s a chance to thank the community, meet the new owner, and enjoy some great hospitality—everyone’s invited!
