This season, Brome Lake’s public art initiative turns its creative lens toward a vital theme: water. Under the banner “Au Cœur de l’eau” (At the Heart of Water), the town invites residents and visitors to reflect on the value of clean water and the health of Brome Lake through a series of community-centered artistic events.
The project is led by local artist Muriel Faille, and continues the town’s tradition of interactive and thought-provoking public art, following the success of past editions like Les articulés and M. la chaise.
Art in the Park
Coldbrook Park will be transformed into an open-air gallery, showcasing five local professional artists, each presenting water-themed works. In July, the park will also host 20+ three-dimensional pieces created from recycled materials—each eligible for a $500 prize.
Exhibits and Events
Later in the season, a special five-day exhibit and fundraiser will feature 50 small-format, ready-to-hang artworks. A portion of the sales will go toward water conservation efforts in Brome Lake.
A Creative Day at the Beach – August 21
Kids are invited to head to the beach for a sandcastle competition, a symbolic activity underscoring the fragility of water systems. That same day, a beachside fashion show will highlight upcycled creations made from trash, plastics, and aquatic plants collected during Conservation Lac Brome’s annual cleanup.
Designers will turn lake waste into wearable art, with another $500 prize up for grabs.
A Photographic Finale
The project wraps up with a photographic exhibition capturing the shores and waterways of the region. The final collection will be on display at Théâtre Lac-Brome in February 2026, offering a reflective, artistic tribute to a resource too often taken for granted.
