Official Communiqué
Boat owners, take note! The Town of Brome Lake has implemented new rules this year regarding access to the lake and boat washing requirements, with the goal of protecting the lake from invasive species.
What’s New?
Starting this season, all boats—motorized and non-motorized (including paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes)—must display an official sticker proving they have been properly washed.
Where to Get Washed and Stickered
- A new boat wash station has been set up at 704 Lakeside Road in Foster, next to the Tourism Welcome Centre.
- After washing, a wash certificate is issued and a sticker is provided to affix to the boat.
Different Rules for Residents and Non-Residents
- Residents were asked to apply online for their sticker before June 15. Washing is free for residents, and they are encouraged to create an online account to register their boat(s).
- Non-residents must pay a $20 fee per motorized boat for their sticker. Washing of non-motorized boats remains free.
Penalties for Non-Compliance
Anyone who fails to follow the new regulations may be subject to fines ranging from $200 to $800.
