West Bolton Council – June Meeting Summary

All members of council were present, with one participating via Zoom. Six residents attended in person.

Municipal Financial Report

The town’s auditors presented the 2024 Municipal Financial Report. Further details are available at town hall or on the municipal website.

Town Planning

In May, 13 building permits were issued with a combined value of $586,000, including a principal residence at 81 Paramount Road.
A request to amend zoning bylaws was not approved, as the MRC is currently reviewing all municipal zoning bylaws.

New Hire – Environment

Mrs. Lawrence Alloy has been hired as an environmental inspector intern. She will assist with permits, nuisance complaints, and ensuring compliance with swimming pool regulations.

Municipal Election – November 2025

Council has decided not to include mail-in ballots in the next municipal election. Mail-in voting was first introduced in 2021.

Roads and Infrastructure

  • A new Stop sign has been installed at Bailey and Spicer Roads, now a four-way stop.
  • New speed-limit signs are to be installed shortly.
  • Glen Road culvert replacement is scheduled from July 1 to 18. Detour via Paige Road.
  • Argyll Road will be closed for bridge work over McLaughlin Creek from June 9 to August 1.
  • Jared Chagnon has been appointed as full-time Public Works Superintendent.

Fire Permits – New Delay Policy

Residents are reminded that fire permits now require 48 hours’ notice. This delay allows time to assess the fire danger rating and notify all local fire departments. Plan ahead and apply two days in advance.
