In the tradition of great mystery writers like Agatha Christie and The Christmas Pudding, Louise Penny also references mouth-watering food as part of her storytelling.
To this end, Brome Lake tourism is celebrating the launch of Penny’s next book, The Black Wolf, with a culinary festival of her featured foods. The town is partnering with Louise Penny, Flammarion, and Minotaur Books to offer this gastronomic and literary delight.
During the whole month of October, 11 local restaurants, sporting a special sticker, will offer various dishes named in Penny’s novels. The participating eateries are:

- Bistro West Brome,
- Brûlerie Virgin Hill
- Coffee, Buzz Café & Bistro,
- Café Three Pines,
- Chez moi Chez toi,
- Ensemble bar à vin,
- La Knowlton Co.,
- Raffields Centrale,
- Restaurant-Bistro Le Relais,
- Restaurant Un vrai délice.
“I have loved sharing meals with friends in each of these restaurants,” Penny enthuses. “It is my delightful mission to spread the word far and wide that Knowlton is a destination for food, for art, for film, for literature. For fun. For community. For belonging.”
