Walking our countryside

In the heart of the enchanting Eastern Townships, the Les Amis des Sentiers (Friends of the Trails) club embodies the spirit of friendly and accessible hiking.

This group brings together outdoor enthusiasts every week to explore the region’s wooded trails in a warm and inclusive atmosphere. Hikes take place on the extensive network of private and public trails within a 50 kilometer radius of Town of Brome Lake.

As part of the Club de la Bonne Humeur, the group goes on hikes every Thursday morning. These free weekly outings are open to all CBH members, making them an ideal activity for people aged 50 and over who want to stay active while building social connections. The starting point varies depending on the chosen route, but the trails are almost always well-marked, safe and suitable for different fitness levels, according to a classification system provided in the weekly invitation.

Four-Season Hiking

In summer, participants enjoy the lush greenery and sounds of nature, while in winter, the snow-covered landscapes provide a magical setting ideal for snowshoeing or Nordic walking with poles and crampons. Dogs on leashes are often permitted unless otherwise indicated. The club has special authorization from Parc des Sommets de Bromont, allowing its members to access the extensive hiking network at no cost.

Promoting Health, Community and Nature

Beyond physical activity, Les Amis des Sentiers promote a healthy lifestyle, the discovery of local natural heritage, and a sense of belonging to a community. Each walk becomes an opportunity to chat, laugh, share stories, or simply savor the silence of the forest.

The club is also committed to promoting green spaces. By regularly using the trails, members contribute to their upkeep and preservation. This active presence in the field strengthens the connection between citizens and their natural environment. The Club de la Bonne Humeur is a member of the Fédération de l’Âge d’Or du Québec (FADOQ).

Seeking New Trails

The club is currently seeking new private trails to explore. If you own a wooded area with trails offering approximately a 90-minute walk and would like to share your piece of paradise with nature lovers, please contact Richard Dubois at rdubois470@gmail.com.
