The Wellness Volunteer Centre has been serving Lac-Brome for nearly 40 years. Founded in September 1987, its mission is to improve the quality of life for TBL seniors by helping them maintain their independence for as long as possible.
Run by a group of nine volunteers, Wellness offers a variety of activities and services. Nancy Page, Chair of the Board of Directors, states that Wellness success is based on the strong commitment of its approximately 60 volunteers and the ongoing support of the local community.
Volunteer Transportation
Volunteer transportation is offered to seniors at a minimal cost, enabling them to attend medical appointments at hospitals in Sherbrooke or Montreal. They can also use the service for appointments at the hairdresser or for grocery shopping.
Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels program prepares hot meals four days a week and delivers them to their homes. This service is offered to seniors at a minimal cost during convalescence or for longer periods, allowing them to remain at home longer. Wellness prepared and delivered nearly 2,300 meals in 2025.
Personal Alarm System
Wellness also provides a free personal alarm system to seniors who wish to have one, enabling them to quickly obtain assistance when needed.
Social Activities
On Thursday mornings, those aged 50 and over are welcomed at the Auberge Lakeview to play cards, participate in board games, or simply chat. Coffee, tea, and sweets are offered to participants.
Community Events
Wellness organizes four community meals each year for Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day or St. Patrick’s Day, and Mother’s Day. An annual picnic is also organized. This year, it will take place on June 17 at noon at the Brome Fairgrounds.
