The local aluminum-tab collection campaign that has raised thousands of dollars for the Shriners Hospital for Children since 2014 is winding down.
Dexter Larose, who was the force behind the campaign, has decided to step down. Unless new volunteers step forward, the aluminum alloy tabs from cans of soft drinks, beer, cat food etc. will no longer be collected in the area.
Final Collection Round
One last round of tab collection will take place so if you have tabs saved, please drop them off at one of the businesses that have been faithfully volunteering as collection centres:
Arnold Royea at Petits Moteurs
Depanneur Rouge
IGA Knowlton
Chez Moi Chez Toi in Bondville
Volunteer Susan Jacques said that these tabs will be sold so that the group can give one last donation to the Shriners.
Community Involvement and Appreciation
The campaign involved hundreds of people over the years, including Massey Vanier students, businesses and people who wanted to do what they could to support a great cause.
“We just want to thank everyone who has contributed over the years, and I am sure they will continue to find other ways to help worthy causes,” Jacques said. “We should all find ways to do our part. Commitment to community is an essential part of life.”
