On June 1, Jean-Marc Bélanger handed over the keys to the Uniprix pharmacy in Knowlton to the new owners, pharmacists Nassim Bouhacida and Éric Bergeron. Two other pharmacists, who own Uniprix pharmacies on Montreal’s South Shore, are also shareholders. Bélanger is staying on as a pharmacist, however.
New Ownership Team
A native of Montreal, Nassim is 31 years old and has been practicing as a pharmacist since 2024. He is happy to settle in our region with his young family, eager to enjoy the exceptional quality of life in the region.
His partner, Éric Bergeron, has 25 years of experience as a pharmacist and knows the Brome Lake area well, having spent part of his youth here.
“Customer satisfaction is at the heart of our priorities,” Nassim says. “Together with the existing team, we will ensure not only that we continue to provide quality care tailored to everyone’s needs but also that we expand the range of services offered.”
Reflections from the Former Owner
Bélanger was 27 when he bought the pharmacy in November 2017. “I wanted to understand the role of a pharmacist-owner and try a new way of doing things.”
As the sole owner, with no partners to rely on when needed, the experience was very rewarding but sometimes difficult. “But I love my job as a pharmacist, and from now on, I’ll be able to devote myself entirely to it here in Brome Lake, without having to worry about administrative matters. Plus, I’ll have the time and flexibility to pursue the activities I love: traveling, cycling and long-distance running.”
Continuity of Service
Change, then, but with continuity. The residents of the Town of Brome Lake will continue to receive the excellent service they’ve come to expect at Uniprix with the arrival of new co-owners who are determined to maintain this special relationship.
