West Bolton threw itself a party on August 22, marking a full 150 years as a town. More than 250 residents — about a third of the entire population — turned out to celebrate together, catch up with neighbours, and dig into a barbecue, corn on the cob, and cake.

A Day Full of Activities
The day was packed with things to see and do: historical displays looking back on the town’s past, a lively kids’ zone, music from CIDI, and a long list of door prizes generously donated by local sponsors.
Several citizens were honoured for their contributions to the community, including Don Badger, who served as mayor for 25 years and on council for another 17, Bob Hume, Gail Watts, Albert and Clément Lepage, and the late John Rhicard and George Woodard.
A new plaque listing West Bolton’s mayors throughout time was unveiled to mark the occasion.
A Community Effort
None of it would have come together without Nancy Zitzman, who organized the celebration alongside Mayor Denis Villeneuve and the town council, and led a dedicated team of 30 volunteers to bring the day to life.
