Adam David Soutar passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Born in Montreal on May 21, 1968, Adam attended Selwyn House School in Westmount, Stowe School in the United Kingdom and McGill University.
Adam spent his fondest childhood moments at the family property on Robinson Bay and the Brome Lake Boating Club in the 1970s and 80s. He was a skier, lifeguard, tennis player and enjoyed a good card game.
A Career in New York
Adam’s early career in the investment business brought him to Hong Kong and eventually to New York City, which he called home since 1992.
In 1997 he co-founded Post Millennium, a boutique post-production studio, where he worked as executive producer for 20 years.
Adam had a knack for always being at the epicenter of historic geopolitical events — in Berlin in 1989, Hong Kong in 1997 and Manhattan’s TriBeCa neighbourhood on Sept 11, 2001. He was always alert to the person in the room who most needed a morale boost.
Family
Adam was the beloved husband of John David Rigsby, son of Helgi Soutar and the late Ian Alexander Soutar; brother of James Soutar (Abby Lai Soutar) and Annabel Soutar (Alex Ivanovici); son-in-law of the late David Rigsby, of Vicki Rigsby, and of Walter Insley; uncle of Alistair and Augustine Soutar and of Ella and Beatrice Ivanovici.
