At the meeting Aug. 3, all members of Council were present. There were about 8 residents in attendance in person or by Zoom.
Nine permits were issued in July and several bylaws were amended to update wording on accessory buildings and to clearly differentiate between hot tubs and swimming pools. Monthly expenses of $381K were approved as well as salaries of $39K. Nicholas Turgeon-Morin was confirmed as Director-General. Noemie Germain has been appointed as manager of road & infrastructure maintenance.
Language in Municipal Contracts
Several municipalities in the MRC are urging the Quebec government to allow flexibility in regulations concerning the language in municipal contracts.
Conservation and Watercourses
Council confirmed support for Conservation Lac Brome’s project to plant trees in the riparian reserve along watercourses in the municipality. Cool water can contain more dissolved oxygen than warm water and provides better habitat for fish and other aquatic species.
At present the Council has no plan to start a conservation program based on the recently completed land inventory.
Emergency Preparedness
West Bolton will join several other rural municipalities to provide resources and support to ensure public safety in the event of a disaster like a forest fire or ice storm.
July 2026
At the July Council meeting, all members were present except Nancy Lantigne, who resigned from Council effective July 6. A by-election will be held in the autumn.
It was also announced that the October meeting of Council will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6. The provincial election is expected to be held Oct. 5.
Building Permits and Infrastructure
20 building permits were issued in June with a total value of $2.4 million, including 2 new houses.
Several proposals for; inspection, repair and replacement of culverts on Brill, Bailey, Town Hall and Paramount were approved.
