Participate in reusing materials at Zone Eco

The “Zone Éco” serves the population of the Brome-Missisquoi MRC region, providing free access to reusable items and compost made from biodegradable matrials dropped off by residents.

First stop: the eco-centre and its reuse area

You can drop off items here—provided they are in good condition—such as indoor and outdoor furniture, plumbing fixtures and accessories, doors and windows, children’s play structures, appliances, cooling units (air conditioners, wine coolers, etc.), electronics and computer equipment, construction materials, logs and wood blocks, large branches (over 1 inch in diameter), cardboard boxes, aggregates (stone, brick, asphalt, concrete, etc.), tires, Styrofoam, and many other reusable products.

You can also bring non-recyclable hazardous materials –such as paint, batteries, gas cans, antifreeze, light bulbs, propane tanks, etc. –which are then sent to professional facilities for recycling.

Second stop: the composting site

Here, you can drop off food scraps and garden waste, as well as soiled (but unwaxed) paper and cardboard (pizza boxes or meal containers stained with food, paper plates), corks, paper napkins, cupcake and muffin liners, coffee filters, dead insects or small animals, pet hair and waste, and cat or urban chicken litter.

Once the processing is complete, the compost is ready for use. Come and pick some up!

Zone Éco is located at 2500 Rang St Joseph, Cowansville.
