The municipalities of Town of Brome Lake and Bromont agreed last year that joining their efforts to police their respective territories is a welcome move.

TBL would gain better services while reducing its costs (savings of $400,000/yr estimated in 2019) and Bromont would also reduce the bill for its police services while maintaining its reputation for high quality.

The Quebec government threw a cold shower on the project when it decided to call for a province-wide consultation process on police services in a Livre Vert last December. The consultation will take place for most of this year.

A report is expected sometime in the fall. As a result, the proposed intermunicipal effort between TBL and Bromont is on hold at least until then.
