At the annual general meeting of the Wellness Volunteer Centre, Lise Valois, its president, thanked the 45 dedicated volunteers, the benefactors and the board members who supported Wellness now in its 30th year of success.

This past year, Wellness assisted our seniors in a variety of activities. Several examples are as follows: eight volunteer drivers made 72 trips to drive seniors to various appointments or shopping; 1871 Meals on Wheels were delivered over the year (four deliveries per week), by nine drivers; 39 Emergency Alert systems were in use; friendly visits to homes and senior’s residences; three luncheons and a Christmas tea hosted by Wellness; “Balance for Seniors” classes subsidized by Wellness, and twice each month, Wellness volunteers worked alongside professionals to give stimulation and care to vulnerable seniors at the Wellness Day Centre.

Members of the Board of Directors for 2016-2017 and their responsibilities are: Lise Valois, President, Friendly Visits and Senior Day Centre; Gib Rotherham, Vice President, Meals on Wheels; June Dupont, Treasurer; Lalage Bacon and Andrea Coombs, Senior Needs Think Tank; Louise Gelinas and Janie Trew, Senior Special Events; Judy Foster, Publicity; Barrie Paige, Emergency Alert Program; Rachel Massicks, Transportation; Margot Cowen, Secretary replacing long time secretary Marilyn Graham.
