December is the time for the Festival of Lights, Santa’s parade. Midnight Madness and the sparkling fireworks.
Always a popular event, Midnight Madness will take place on Saturday, December 9. Make a date and take part in the festivities that will go on from 5 p.m. until midnight. Bring family and friends to share the magic of that evening. Stores will be open as well as a large artists and artisans market in the old Jones New York building. Also, a special gourmet food market will be open in the old Mill Pond Plaza (former Woolrich store). Local artists will greet you at the special Christmas Market at Galerie Hors-Cadre. The streets will be alive with activities, music, and horse drawn carriages; mulled wine and hot chocolate will warm you up.
For the first time this year, Coldbrook Park will be illuminated every night from December 9 until January 7 with the Garden of Lanterns. Lanterns that have been decorated by residents of the town, young and old, will bring their magic to the Coeur Villageois. They will be lit for the first time during Midnight Madness.
As soon as the weather allows, the skating rink on the lake will open for the winter, and will be accessible from Douglass Beach. It offers a super view of the lake and surrounding mountains and it comes with a heated cabin where you can put on your skates.
On December 28, don’t miss the fireworks that will light up the skies over the Coeur villageois. It is recommended to leave dogs at home as most of them are afraid of the loud noise of the fireworks. Don’t miss a great show.
