What is the definition of a go-getter? How about someone who launches a business during a pandemic? Virginia Wilson, whom you may already know as the creator of the Facebook group, recently launched etownships, an online marketplace, (and soon a boutique on Knowlton’s Boardwalk), that showcases a variety of specialty products from artisans and producers in the Eastern Townships. Wilson saw an opportunity to make shopping easier by offering local specialties, like soaps, ciders, maple goodies, pottery and more, all in one place.

Wilson had planned to open etownships in September 2020 but when the pandemic hit, she thought that an earlier launch would make more sense. She quickly got her Shopify website up and running and bought a trailer and stocked up on some favorite items to be ready for deliveries. The next step was securing the right location for the boutique. When asked about the challenges she has faced opening a business during a pandemic Wilson said that everything just takes longer, like getting a license for the trailer.

July 1st, 5 p.m. is the official opening for the etownships’ boutique at 255A Knowlton Road. There you can expect delicious tastings, Knowlton’s community spirit and fun and safe shopping. To find out more about etownships and its offerings, visit or call 450-955-9505.
