Maureen Casey Lefebvre

Born in New Rochelle, near New York, in April 1945, died at the CHUM in April 2018 from organ failure following open-heart surgery. Mother, wife, grandmother, painter, conservationist and widely known as the Shady Lady “blinds for all seasons.” Her window treatments enhanced countless homes in Montreal’s west end and the greater Brome Lake milieu for a solid third of a century.

Maureen and her husband had homes for over 30 years on Mountain in West Bolton, Rosenberry, near the Farmer’s Rest, and Academy, a short jaunt from the village of Sutton, where renovation tools were always present

Co-founder in Montreal West of Art Etc. and of Eco Care, an avant-guard recycling centre in 1989, she was a valued member of “Art Entre Nous” a group of painters who grace the Centre Lac-Brome on Victoria weekly to paint and learn from one another. A life well lived and a bucket list fully checked off.

Maureen’s husband, Jean-Claude Lefebvre is a valuable member of the Tempo staff.
