West Bolton Council Meeting: May 2019

The mayor and all councillors were present except Robert Chartier, plus 20 residents.

Questions – Discussion centered on the emergency closure of Paramount Rd. due to severe mud conditions during the spring thaw. The road was declared impassible by emergency vehicles and residents were advised to leave until the road could be repaired. Residents are asked to sign up to receive the municipal info-letter – an efficient way to be informed of important events in West Bolton.

Mt Foster – The public consultation will be held on May 25 at the TBL Community Centre on Victoria St at 1:45 p.m. Presentations will be made by West Bolton Council; the Appalachian Corridor, on the large area to be dedicated to conservation; the Promoters; St. Etienne; and an Urbanism consultant. Property owners will receive an information package including a ballot before the public consultation. Residents are encouraged to attend the consultation to ensure that they have accurate, up-to-date information on the proposal before voting.

Ballots must be received no later than 12 noon on Friday, June 7 at Town Hall. These bulletins will be publicly opened on Friday June 7 at 2 p.m. at Town Hall. This will be followed by a special sitting of the Council, on Monday June 10 at 7:30 p.m.

It was noted that approval of the proposal offers an opportunity to establish a large conservation area and ensure public access to the Tower on the summit of Mt. Foster.

Urbanism – Changes to seven bylaws were proposed. All are on the West Bolton website in English and French. Residents are encouraged to review these proposals.

Roads – The spring thaw has been particularly severe this year. An estimated $50,000 has been spent on gravel to fill mud holes. Drive with care.

Next Meeting: Monday June 3 at 7:30 p.m.
