West Bolton Council Meeting – November 2021

The mayor and all councillors were present.
Opening Statement – The new Mayor Denis Vaillancourt, introduced the new council: Loren Allen, Jean-Pierre Pouliot, Gilles Asselin, and the three new councillors: Nancy Lanteigne, Margarita Lafontaine and Eddy Whitcher. The mayor offered thanks to Jacques Drolet, Cedric Briggs and Robert Chartier. He also thanked all residents who voted, and those who had presented themselves as candi- dates. These democratic processes are important. 

Urbanism – 19 permits were issued over the past month. 

The Advisory Committee on Urbanism (CCU) has openings for four members. If you would like to be involved in Urban Planning please notify Town Hall before 4:30 p.m. on November 30th. 

Administration – The installation of a new municipal council and administration involves several steps. 

Jean-Pierre Pouliot was elected Deputy Mayor, several councillors and senior staff were appointed to sign all checks and contracts, RCGT were appointed as Auditors for 2021, Poupart & Poupart were confirmed as legal counsel. 

Health and Welfare – Up to 40% of deer have tested positive for COVID-19 in several states in the USA including New York. This may not pose a health problem for humans, but hunters should wear gloves while working on deer carcasses. Mink have also tested positive in BC. 

A special meeting of council was held on November 23 to dis- cuss and approve contracts for installation of a culvert on Mason Rd., and the resurfacing of Bailey, Spicer, Brill and Stukely roads.
