Shakespeare’s bloody tragedy Macbeth has not generally been treated as comedy over the last 600 years or so. Then Knowlton playwright and bookstore owner Lucy Hoblyn got her hands on it. Inspired by memories of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, her own British background and the air around Brome Lake, a busy Hoblyn has refashioned the Bard as family fun.

Knowlton Academy this month.
Dinner-Theatre at Knowlton Academy
“Macbeth and All That” will be presented by Knowlton Players in a dinner-theatre format at Knowlton Academy on the March 13 weekend. Hoblyn has once again used prowess and a lively sense of humour to re-write the bard’s play for the enjoyment and participation of all ages. The production’s many added surprises include the participation of the Sutton ballet; a cast of 31 ranging in age from 6 to 93; ghosts and witches; colourful kilts and berets; and a light meal to whet your appetite.
