It is time to start thinking of the upcoming municipal elections, especially if you are planning to run as a candidate for mayor or councillor. A person can only run for one position on the municipal council. Nomination forms may be obtained from the office of the returning officer, and these must be submitted from September 17 to October 1.

Candidates must have the right to be entered on the municipality’s list of electors and must have resided within that territory continuously or for a least the last 12 months on September 1, 2021. Each municipality in our readership area will have information on their websites or you can go to electionsquebec.qc.ca for more pertinent facts.

There will be early voting days on October 31 and November 6 and certain voters will also be permitted to vote by mail. More information will be available on this option as voting time approaches.
