Local politicians get a lot of flak. They can’t visit a grocery store without someone accosting them about one problem or another. Fine, they knew that when they signed on to council life in rural communities. That being said, we would like to thank two local mayors who are retiring: Jacques Drolet in West Bolton and Joan Westland-Eby in East Bolton. Also, a thank you to the councillors in West Bolton, East Bolton and the Town of Brome Lake for giving up their time to work for the smooth running of their municipalities. And a mention to those in Brome Village and Ste-Étienne who were once again acclaimed. Lastly, gratitude to those that ran for office but lost. It takes time, money and dedication to throw your name into the hat.
