The United Church has been sold. It was bought for $575,000 by a part time resident of the town who wants to remain anonymous until the deal closes with the notary in October.
“We will continue to worship in the church for at least another year,” said Steve Lawson, minister of the church. The new owner is interested in historical buildings and says he plans to do some restoration. He also asked if we still have the Christmas Eve service and was pleased when he heard we did.
Though many churches have been converted to residences, there are no plans to convert the United Church to residential or commercial use. The church building, which appears reflected in the pond in many photos and posters, will remain as is.
