Juliette Brouillette

By Suzanne Brouillette

Juliette Lyth Brouillette was born in Knowlton and lived there her entire life. Anecdotally, she would have been the only student in the history of the Saint-Édouard primary school to complete Grade 11!  Long-time Knowlton residents will remember seeing Juliette on a regular basis at the Brouillette’s grocery store, and then at the hardware store on Lakeside, where Juliette worked for many years alongside her husband Redmond Brouillette. They were married for over 60 years, until Redmond passed away in 2015.

Simplicity, dedication, gratitude, and resilience are without a doubt the words that best describe her. For many years, she was involved in different community organizations such as the AFÉAS, was organist for the Saint-Édouard’s church for over 50 years and acted as translator from time to time for the Brome County Historical Society. In short, throughout her life, she devoted herself to the well-being of her community with humility, dedication, and compassion.  In recent years, Alzheimer’s disease gradually took hold. But with the exceptional kindness and care shown by the staff at the Manoir Lac Brome, she was able to live out her final days in dignity and contentment.

Juliette was the mother of Suzanne, Sidney and Louise Brouillette, grandmother of seven, great-grandmother of eight, and a true and sincere friend to so many people of all ages.

She passed away peacefully on January 9th, 2024 at the age of 92
