Preparations for the 2025 election
Around twenty citizens attended this session chaired by Mayor Richard Burcombe in the presence of four councillors, the Director-General and the clerk.
The next municipal elections were also part of this session. Given the notable increase in the population of TBL, an update of the electoral map is necessary as required by the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities. With 5,476 registered voters, the Town of Brome Lake must have six electoral districts with an average of 913 voters each. The number of voters in each district must be within 25% of this average, or between 685 and 1,141 voters. Thus, in the first draft regulation submitted, 67 voters from Brome Road between Centre Road and the Bromont limit would move from the Bondville-Fulford district to West Brome-Iron Hill. A register will be opened for those who would like to contest the proposed regulation.
Carke Terrace Design
A loan of $1,275,000 is proposed in order to proceed with the construction of a building with a toilet block and a parking lot at the Carke Terrace (Bondville Park) on the edge of the lake. This borrowing bylaw will be open to a register and a possible referendum.
Financial contributions
The Fulford Social Club was awarded $3,600 to hold the “Street Dance”; Action Communautaire Lac-Brome will receive $6,000 for a project carried out with Physio Lac-Brome; Maison Au Diapason will receive $2,000.
Next meeting: Tuesday April 2 at 7 p.m. at the CLB.
