The opening of the upgraded 1.6 kms of the bike path that runs from chemin Doucet in Foster towards Waterloo where the MRC de la Haute-Yamaska begins, was officially announced May 26 with a press conference held by the Corporation d’aménagement récréo-touristique de la Haute-Yamaska (CARTHY).

As a result, the Tourisme Granby region has added a new cycling option called Circuit des Trois Lacs; the three lakes being Lac Boivin, Lac Waterloo and Lac Brome.

Annie Turcot, CARTHY Executive Director, says cyclists had been lobbying for this upgrade for a few years. The $160,000 project was f inanced by Tourisme des Cantons-de-l’Est and the County of Shefford.

Annie Turcot says it will take a couple of years for the stone dust surface to become packed and hard. When asked if gates will be put up to keep ATVs off that part of the bike path, Annie Turcot explained “Because barriers typically get vandalized stop signs have been installed instead.”

The path, referred to as La Campagnarde, is the property of l’Association du corridor permanent des motoneigistes. CARTHY has the right to use it from April to October. https://granbyregion.com/quoi_faire/circuit-granby-waterloo-lac-brome/
