Boutique Palma offers finds from around the world

To visit Boutique Palma is to travel the world, while remaining at 70 Lakeside. The boutique is all about everything comfortable and handmade. So while browsing, shoppers will come across unique cushions, pajamas, and kimonos mostly from Palma’s own designs. Shoes and Christmas decorations from Mexico or soaps and creams from Ecuador, one of a kind jewelry or, if preferred, modestly priced pieces from India are all available as the product line continues to evolve.

The boutique is run by Maud and Edith Marrié, two sisters who had been operating their store in Montreal for six years. It was while visiting friends in the Knowlton area that the sisters fell in love with the town, and decided to make the move. They shuttered their Montreal boutique and opened in October in the new prime location on Lakeside beside the dam.

Boutique Palma is all about textures, prints, a love for colour, and handmade traditions from around the world, says Maud. Maud studied in India where she was introduced to family crafts people and cooperatives who make beautiful jewelry and fabrics. She has continued to stay in touch and the boutique contracts various designs for these craftspeople to print and sew.

Maud’s focus is on jewelry making which she studied in Montreal while her sister Edith is focused on designs for silk screening and block printing on fabric.
